ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES & COMPLIANCE POLICY

1. Purpose and Scope

The Ethical Business Practices & Compliance Policy sets out the standards of commercial conduct expected of all organisations participating in the World Economic Chamber, and the compliance mechanisms through which adherence is monitored. It applies to members' conduct both within Chamber activities and, where relevant to their standing as members, in the broader cross-border business activity that membership is intended to support.

2. Standards of Ethical Business Conduct

Members are expected to conduct their international business activities honestly, in accordance with applicable law, and with regard for the economic and social consequences of their operations. This includes rejecting corruption, bribery and improper inducement in any jurisdiction in which they operate, honouring contractual and financial obligations to counterparties, and maintaining accurate representation of institutional capacity, ownership and authority in dealings connected to the Chamber. These expectations reflect the Chamber's founding principle of integrity and apply irrespective of local enforcement practice, recognising that ethical conduct cannot be calibrated to the weakest applicable standard.

3. Compliance Expectations

Members must maintain internal practices sufficient to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory, financial and trade obligations in the jurisdictions where they operate. Where a member's sector is subject to specific regulatory regimes — financial services, trade compliance, sanctions frameworks or sector-specific licensing — the Chamber expects membership to be maintained on the basis that the member remains in good standing under those regimes. Loss of good standing under applicable regulatory frameworks is a matter relevant to continued membership.

4. Relationship to Jurisdictional Diversity

Because members operate across differing regulatory environments, this policy does not attempt to harmonise all applicable law into a single standard. Instead, it establishes a floor of ethical conduct — honesty, non-corruption and respect for legal obligation — that applies universally, while requiring members to meet the more specific compliance obligations of each jurisdiction in which they are active, consistent with the Jurisdictional Respect & Regulatory Adherence Policy.

5. Monitoring and Response

Concerns regarding a member's ethical or compliance conduct may be raised with the Executive Secretariat or Oversight & Compliance Functions and are assessed under the Chamber's established decision-making and accountability procedures. Where concerns are substantiated, the Chamber may respond proportionately, ranging from requiring corrective action to suspension or revocation of membership consistent with the Charter.

6. Institutional Significance

An organisation whose purpose is to strengthen responsible cross-border commerce has limited credibility if its own membership is not held to the ethical standards it promotes. This policy ensures that participation in the Chamber signals genuine commitment to responsible business conduct, reinforcing the trust that underpins cross-border economic cooperation.
