PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & BEHAVIOURAL EXPECTATIONS
1. Purpose and Scope
This document sets out the professional conduct and behavioral expectations applicable to all individuals participating in World Economic Chamber activities, whether as members, authorized representatives, Secretariat personnel or invited counterparts. It complements the Chamber's Code of Conduct by addressing conduct at the level of individual behavior within Chamber settings.
2. Rationale
The Chamber's institutional credibility depends not only on its governance architecture but on the conduct of the individuals who represent it and participate in its activities. These expectations ensure that behavior within Chamber settings consistently reflects the seriousness of its mandate.
3. Core Expectations
Individuals are expected to engage with professionalism and courtesy, respecting the perspectives of counterparts from different institutional, cultural and jurisdictional backgrounds; to represent their own organization and views accurately, without overstating authority or commitments; and to avoid conduct that could embarrass or compromise the Chamber's institutional standing.
4. Conflicts of Interest
Individuals must disclose conflicts of interest relevant to their participation in a given Chamber activity and recuse themselves from matters where such conflicts could compromise the integrity of the engagement.
5. Confidentiality
Individuals must observe confidentiality obligations attached to any Chamber activity, consistent with the Confidentiality, Information-Handling & Disclosure Guidelines, and must not disclose sensitive information shared in the course of Chamber engagement without appropriate authorization.
6. Addressing Breaches
Breaches of these expectations are addressed through the Chamber's established accountability procedures, with consequences proportionate to the nature and severity of the conduct concerned, up to and including exclusion from further participation.
7. Alignment with Governance Framework
These expectations reinforce the Chamber's broader institutional culture, ensuring that individual conduct within its activities consistently upholds the standards the organization expects of itself.
